Rock icon Alice Cooper is preparing to share the story behind his legendary career with a new memoir titled Devil On My Shoulder, scheduled for release October 6 in the United States through Hachette Book Group; and October 8 in the United Kingdom via Ebury Spotlight.

Born Vincent Damon Furnier, Cooper first rose to fame in the late 1960s as the frontman of the band Alice Cooper before eventually adopting the name as his own. Over time, his dramatic stage character — complete with horror imagery and shock-rock theatrics — became inseparable from his real-life identity.

The memoir explores that duality, contrasting the wild stage persona with the sober and deeply religious man behind the scenes. Throughout the book, Cooper also reflects on the highs and struggles of a six-decade career that produced more than 30 albums and influenced generations of rock performers. Along the way, the musician recounts encounters with a wide range of cultural figures, including John Lennon, Salvador Dalí, Frank Sinatra, Andy Warhol and Vincent Price.

Cooper described the memoir as a long-overdue attempt to separate fact from fiction surrounding the theatrical persona that helped define his career, saying: “I’ve written this book to track Alice’s ‘evilution’, and how I’ve tamed him at last. Just as he and I became almost fatally intertwined, the story of Alice Cooper after over thirty records and sixty-plus years has become a tangle of embellishments, elaborations and outright fabrications, and I think it’s time to sort reality from myth.”

Along with detailing the autobiography’s release, Cooper has announced a UK book tour consisting of eight dates running from October 11th in Cardiff through October 20th in Wolverhampton. Each ticket comes with a copy of the book, with a signup for pre-sales at this location.

Fans can also catch the shock-rock pioneer back on stage during his spring U.S. concert run, which begins April 14 in San Antonio and wraps May 9 in Camden.

Devil on My Shoulder will be available in hardcover, ebook, and audiobook., with pre-orders available via Amazon. Preorder the memoir: HERE.
