Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds is examining the way Mormons treat gay and transgender church members in a new documentary. The Mormon singer is the star of Believer, which is the first movie premiering at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival in Utah to land a distribution deal and TV rights. The documentary investigates spiraling suicide rates among Mormon teens struggling with the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints’ policies on same-sex marriage and homosexuality. Reynolds helped to organize the first-ever LoveLoud Festival concert in Orem, Utah, to benefit gay rights groups, and he’s hoping the film will reach even more people within the Mormon community.
